Halloween Week

We had a week full of fun activities!
On Tuesday evening, one of the local high schools hosted an indoor trick or treating event. I wanted Sage to get some practice in before the "real thing." So we went. And he had ample opportunities to practice the magic trick-or-treat phrase.

Just like last Halloween, Sage had three costumes to choose from. I bought all of them for 90% off after last year's Halloween. He decided to be a dragon on this evening.

And of course, I had to get Kale dressed up too!

On Wednesday, Kale and I did a mom-and-baby yoga class in Old Town. Nearly all the poses incorporated baby. Holding baby during boat pose. Kissing baby during chaturanga. Etc. I loved it! I feel guilty whenever I do anything that doesn't directly involve Kale. So this was a way to get some exercise and some stress-relief without all the guilt. Kale was the youngest baby there. But only by 2 weeks. We signed up for the series and have 5 more classes ahead of us!

Thursday morning....
Preparing to have the boys all to myself.

And we decided to head to the park.
And we took a couple selfies on the walk there!

I always feel like such a super mom after accomplishing a big outing with the two kids all by myself. I don't know how other women (or men) do it every day. It is insanely exhausting! And I have to pack so much gear. It takes us an hour to get out the door.

After Sage's nap, we had fun with the power tools.

He wore the glasses non-stop for probably 45 minutes. And I couldn't stop laughing.

Finally it was Friday - Halloween day!

Matt took a half day off work and we took the boys to Old Town for a trick-or-treating event. All the stores distributed candy to the kids. The streets were packed. Sage decided to be a pirate on this day. And he actually busted out the "Arggh matey!" phrase without coaxing from his parents. We've been reading a pirate bedtime story lately. And smarty pants was able to quickly make the association all on his own.

I think lollipops might be his favorite candy. He had one in his mouth all morning long. Which made saying trick-or-treat a sloppy slobbery mess that no one could understand.

Friday evening we prepared to walk the neighborhood streets for one more round of candy collecting. This was a momentous occacions for us. Our first official REAL trick-or-treating excursion. We debuted the third and final costume - Frankenstein.

We had so much fun!
We spent about an hour ringing door bells. But then Kale's hands were freezing cold (and Matt had to pee) so we headed home. We saw lots of well-decorated houses, creative costumes, and some creepy stuff - like an adult women dressed as a bride holding three opened beer bottles - all by herself with no kids. Hmm....

We received more than just candy on this Halloween. Several members of our families showered the boys with cards, stickers, ice-cream money, and candy! We feel loved.

Matt finally finished his pumpkin.

And we've all been enjoying our counter centerpiece. We invested in a glass hurricane last year for Christmas decorating. I never imagined I could use it in Autumn too! So multi-functional.

Just one word - yummy!

And some different words come to my mind for the picture below.

Let's see...

ginormous
destructive
totally nuts
hilarious
exhausting
and of course...love.

Because despite all the stress that my insane toddler is causing us these days...boy oh boy do we love him.
