Rowan's First Halloween

Once upon a time there was a blog named SeeSageGrow.

Then a little brother was born and it became SeeSageAndKaleGrow

Then another little brother was born...

So the time has come for yet another blog name change!

Within the coming weeks this blog will change to:

SeeDiemersGrow
(SeeDiemersGrow.blogspot.com)

Bookmark it now so when the change happens, you're ready to roll!

I am now officially back at work! I've only got one full week under my belt, so it's too early to tell if it's a success story or not. Overall, I think having the opportunity to miss my children is a good thing for me. A little distance is good for our relationship. But... managing the kids, the nanny, the cat, the house, the bills, AND my job is a juggling act like no other. My colleagues all find time to chit chat and take long luxurious lunches. I'm running errands, balancing the bank account, ordering Christmas presents, and scheduling doctors appointments. (So. Many. Doctor. Appointments.)

Luckily I just figured out I can order groceries online and have them brought out to my car for a $5 fee. Worth it! If I can find a couple more corners to cut like this one, we'll be good to go!

But I'm jumping ahead. Let me back up and recount the events of my last month of maternity leave. I'll have to do this in bite-sized blogs. Because I have little time left for blogging. And so much has happened in the past month.

The events documented below get us through October. Halloween to be exact.

With work just weeks away, it was important that I start pumping milk and training Rowan how to use a bottle. The first couple attempts weren't great. But after experimenting with different bottle nipples, we got it right. He guzzles that milk down now!

Sage is my big helper. He loves to hold Rowan. Entertain him. And feed him. (He won't go near a diaper. But just about everything else he likes to do.)

He loves him so much...I have to remind him not to squeeze too hard. His love is so strong...it can be a wee bit dangerous at times.

Playing dress up with Rowan is my favorite pastime!

Tricked ya on that last one!

Bet you thought it was another picture of Rowan. It's not... it's Sage!
(I suppose the lack of fluffy blonde hair could give it away.)

Back to Rowan. The hair is a dead giveaway.

The weather was nice...and continues to be. We are still making runs to the park in our shorts. It's been a very mild winter!

Sage can swing all by himself. He's learned the "pumping legs" technique. And he also does some beautiful aerial dismounts!

Everybody loves a Ro Ro.
The boys treat him like a security blanket, or a lovey. Any time they are mad or tired or in trouble, they "need their Ro Ro."

I love catching them snuggling together in bed. Their brotherly bond is off to a GREAT start!

So as Halloween drew near, I had a lot of fun with all the seasonal clothing....

Another picture of Sage... Here's the crazy thing. Sage is 3 months old in the picture above. Rowan is less than 2 months old. Rowan be a big boy!

This year Sage made his own costume - with help from his mom. He wanted to be a zombie. Easy enough.

All you need is:
1) One white collared shirt (because you're always buried in formal wear.)
2) A sharp pair of scissors
3) Mud
4) A bottle of blood
5) Face-paint

So the costume started like this....

And evolved into this!

Kale is Catboy from PJ Masks.

The weekend before Halloween we attended the Fort Collins Treatsylvania event.

What a trio! My heart is overwhelmed with love!
(With a dash of stress and exhaustion. Maybe a couple dashes.)

And then the big day arrived.
Halloween!

Rowan was a pumpkin.

Tricked ya again!
Another picture of Sage.
(Being held by a purple-wearing grandmother.)

Back to Rowan now.

Angel eyes.

Halloween also marked Sage's last day at his long-time school Bright Horizons. He had attended since he was 18 months old. We loved that school. Not the tuition bill...but everything else. It was a sad day. He made many great friends there.

But his last day was a fun one. His class threw a Halloween party, and he spent the day in a Ninja Turtle costume.

With everyone home from school and work, it was time to hit the streets. Matt had a matching zombie costume to compliment Sage's. What a duo!!

Uncle Sam and Alison joined us. This is a fabulous family tradition!

And this year...for an unknown reason...we turned left instead or right at the end of Stoneridge Drive.

And that was a very smart choice!

We stumbled across an amazing haunted house and graveyard scene. It was the highlight of the whole night!

Love these guys!

And just an itsy bitsy food update...

I designed my own sauteed pepper and onion hoagie. Delicious, especially after a sprinkling of oregano.

I used up the last of the garden tomatoes in a batch of soup.

And I successfully made a thai beef with peppers dish. One vegetarian and one with meat.
