Boy oh boy have we been busy! With my due date just four weeks away, I am really feeling the pressure to hurry up and get my to-do list finished. I'm realizing this is an impossible task...but yet I press on each and every day to get as much crossed off as possible before Kale's much anticipated arrival.
This past weekend we were expecting a visit from an old college pal - Ziggy- who we hadn't seen in years. He was coming all the way from California and we wanted to give him a good old fashioned Fort Collins welcome. This meant we had to put the finishing touches on the new guest bedroom/office. In preparation for the stork's delivery, we have been slowly converting the upstairs office into a nursery for Kale. (We want Sage and Kale to each have their own room). So every weekend we have been moving pieces of the office into the basement - tossing everything into a messy pile. With Ziggy's impending arrival, we knew it was time to get everything formally set up. And we were pleased with the final results!
Then on Saturday it was time to have some fun!
We did some brewery hopping - visiting our three favorite Fort Collins brewers.
First was New Belgium.
Look at my little rock star with his tie-dye tank, Nalgene bottle, graham crackers, and aviator sunglasses.
Can you get cooler than that???
Ziggy took a selfie of him and Sage. You can tell he has experience with kids... He was so good with our son!
When Sage got impatient, I took him on a tour of the grounds and we explored this old RV parked in the garden.
Then it was off to stop #2.
Odell.
Don't worry folks...that's a bottle of lemon-lime soda I'm drinking.
And then it was time for our final stop of the day.
Equinox.
And this was by far our favorite.
They had a toy corner for the kiddos. A genius idea!
And live music on the back patio.
What a fun way to end the FoCo beer tour!
On Sunday I was exhausted. Despite the fact I drank no beer on Saturday, I felt like I was the one with the hangover on Sunday. Hot weather and hours of wrangling a toddler in public will do that to a pregnant woman. So Sunday was definitely a relaxation day for me.
I lounged around the backyard with Sage.
All on his own...Sage decided to go strawberry picking.
His daddy was so proud of him!
I washed the berries off with the hose.
And he ate them right there in the backyard.
And finally, my recipe for the week....
This one discovered by Matt. And what a winner!
This is a Sloppy Sam. A vegetarian version of the Sloppy Joe. Made with lentils. The texture and flavor were spot on. Superb. The whole family enjoyed several rounds of Sloppy Sams throughout the weekend.
