Oh silly me. I thought...FINALLY...time to catch up on my blog. It was supposed to be the beginning of the Great Catch Up.
But then....
COVID19....
And I'm told to pack up my office and start working from home. It was quarantine time! So there I was, trying to work 40 hours a week in my son's bedroom - doing everything over video conference. And homeschooling the 1st grader. And cooking all meals at home. And helping with spring planting, the big tulip harvest, and the Mother's Day flower rush.
Life got way crazy. And the blog once again went to the back burner.
And so I'm now more than a year behind. And I have no choice but to chip away at the lost time. Bit by bit.
So here goes. May 2019:
In May we ate ice cream sundaes.
And we took walks to the park.
We picked dandelions.
And picniced.
We climbed public art installments.
And posed for pictures.
One evening, when boredom overtook us, we made our own plinko board.
Nothing more than a cardboard box, some golf tees, a couple ping pong balls, and a few ramekins.
Ba-da-bing. Ba-da-boom.
The Many Faces of Rowan
But let's FACE it. They've all got cute FACES....
~ Mom's Birthday ~
I'd like to thank Matt, my 3 sons, and their 2.5 hour trip to Target for these lovely "under the sea" decorations. If Matt was a cat, he most certainly lost 1 of his 9 lives whilst in the Target (under construction at the time, mind you.) I commend him for taking a litter of children with him on a party decoration shopping trip, in a store that also sells candy, toys, and everything else under the sun. He came out alive, and for that he gets the gold medal of love.
My birthday always falls the same week as Mother's Day.
And so my sweet kindergartner had a little something special to recognize me on this day.
An art time capsule. All his kindergarten masterpieces enclosed in one giant envelope.
Sometime I wonder why I had some many....
But then I find them like this....
And I know I wouldn't have it any other way....
I call this next picture:
Normal.
And this next one, we call:
Million Baby
Because he's that tough to care for. He's a million babies in one.
The month of May is also traditionally the month of the:
"Annual Illinois Diemer Visit."
We look forward to it every year! This time around, we hosted a little dinner and game night with the Carter Timnath clan. We brought together the Diemer grandparents and Carter grandparents - all under one roof. I think this was a first for our boys.
(If by chance it did happen before, I don't recall. And it's been apparent to me as of recent that I don't recall a lot. I hear having kids fries your brain. The more kids, the more fried. Which means my brain is charred.)
With Grandma and Grandpa Dimer in tow, we took a half day excursion to the Museum of Science and Nature in Denver.
Almost more exciting than the exhibits was the escalator.
Exciting moments call for a little extra stability. :)
We really REALLY must do this more than once a year.
We love our Illinois family!
And then a milestone!
The big graduation day from kindergarten!
Nothing can kick off a summer break like a McDonald's Happy Meal.
Congrats Sage!!
And now that school is out for summer...
Let the games begin!
Our children's imaginations weren't the only things in full bloom. So was the garden!
Until it snowed....
But then it was Spring again! :)
See ya over in June!
