Fun in the bath!
We all had a wild night on Wednesday. Pictured above and below is a great musician and singer from one of our favorite bands Hot Buttered Rum. Matt and I have been following this band for close to 8 years!! They are a delightful bluegrass band, with a bit of spunk in their songs. We have seen them in Illinois, Arizona, California, and Colorado. And over the years we have gotten to know some of the members pretty well. Nat, the guitar player, was in Fort Collins this past week, producing an album with a local FoCo bluegrass band. Nat reached out to us, and we all go together for dinner and drinks.
We dined at the Crown Pub. I was the designated driver, like always! But Matt and Nat drank late into the evening. We wrapped up the rendezvous around 11:30pm. Sage had fallen asleep around 10pm. I don't like keeping him out that late, but this was a special circumstance!
Before dropping Nat off at his destination, he requested we stop by the liquor store to do some shopping. Here is a picture of my boy, in a liquor store, around midnight, on a Wednesday!!
A proud parenting moment!!!
All tuckered out from the partying the night before.
On Saturday, we made a trip to Old Town to do some shoe-shopping for Sage. Sage is now in the older infant room at daycare, and he gets to go outside 1-2x per day. Sage needs shoes to partake in these adventures. As I have mentioned before, I have yet to find shoes that fit his feet. But I was told that a toy store in Old Town might have what we were looking for.
We had some fun exploring the different toys in the store, before getting down to business.
We tried on many shoes ranging in price from $25 to $40. And guess what?!?! The ONLY pair that fit was the $40 pair. Top of the price scale! He better wear the hell out of those shoes!
Excuse my language. :)
I also splurged on a bubble wand.
As you can see below, this was a wise investment. He squealed with delight every time!
On Saturday evening we had some friends over for appetizers and drinks. One of the couples has a daughter, named Ramona, who is two years old. She and Sage are fun to watch together. He was fascinated by her!
But the most popular guest of the evening was Big Bear. Ramona and Sage crawled all over this thing. But even long after the kids had left the scene, Big Bear remained central to the festivities. The adults enjoyed lounging in his lap too!
Sage expanded his palette with two new foods this past week. He tried watermelon on Saturday.
And cauliflower on Sunday.
Sage and Big Bear are spending more time together these days.
Nice belly, Sage!
Perfectly posed.
He LOVES sleeping in mom and dad's bed. He's not a fan of his crib. I've got a tough habit to break in the coming months....
But to be honest, our current arrangement works out pretty well for me. With Sage waking up every 5, 4, 3, or even 2 hours during the night, I can't be lugging a 23 pound baby back and forth.... back and forth.... back and forth.... from nursery to master bedroom. I much prefer to roll over, nurse him, and go right back to sleep! Closer to 12 months of age, I might try to break this habit. But I am not emotionally ready to let him "cry it out."
Here is how I found my son on Tuesday evening when I picked him up from daycare. Those silly teachers! They couldn't resist. They gave him a mohwak! Below, Sage looks thrilled.
And I will close today's post with some stats on my baby boy.
We had his 9 month appointment on Friday.
First and foremost, he his healthy!!
But we also confirmed that he is huge!
23.2 pounds = 93rd percentile
29.5 inches = 90th percentile
