Do You Remember November?

Do you remember, November?

Well, we hardly do.

The blog is getting more and more outdated. Sad, but true. :(

It would take nothing short of a miracle to catch up.

But if I had my choice of miracles, probably wouldn't spend it on a blog.

But in honor of November, the season of giving thanks. Let us be grateful for what we have. Event when it's super duper tardy. Better late than never!

And so here it is. A look back on the final days of fall, and the kickoff to the holiday season.

With gardening season officially over, and the passing of several hard frosts, it was time to dig up the sleeping dahlia tubers and send them into storage for the winter.

Dahlias are the gifts that keep on giving. What starts as one little tuber, grows into several by the end of a single season. Mama tubers makes several baby tubers. And each of those baby tubers grows up to be a mama tuber in the subsequent season.

And so your collection keeps on growing and growing. Until you simply run out of space.

Speaking of miracles....

Let the records show that we did have one clean room. One time.
Such sweet memories.
That was a really good half hour.

Halfway through the month, Matt's scholarship goody box arrived.
We weren't quite sure what to expect. But there had been much anticipation.

Floret used the word "deluxe" to describe the contents. A farmer-florist starter kit, to get us "off to the best start possible."

 So our imaginations went wild.
Just about anything could be in there....
Matt and I took turns guessing.
I had my heart set on a new pair of snips and a leather holster.

But the box came. And the box was small.
And I thought to myself....
"Damn, must be a pair of those magic folding sheers in there."

So while a tad underwhelming, it's important to be grateful for every gift, no matter how big or small.
We received several wonderful books, notepads, and some mighty fine seeds.

Plus - don't forget - free tuition to her 6-week workshop.

Smoothie session!

"Mom, we've got a problem here. Looks to me like your grocery list is missing whipped cream...again. We talked about this. It's my favorite food. Help a baby out!"

Brown Palace 2019!

A very special trip for some very special ladies.

My mom and I visited this little historic gem back in 2016. And we always go on the same glorious weekend, when they host the champagne cascade.

This time, we took along Alison.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

We did lunch as PF Changs.

Then we headed to the Christkindle Market, where we drank warm wine in commemorative mugs.
Apparently they issue a new mug each year.
And I fully intend to collect them all.

Then we went back to PF Changs, because I forgot my leftovers.

But then we went back to the hotel to mosey around, drink cocktails in the lobby, and enrich our knowledge of hotel history using a self-guided tour pamphlet.

Then we had appetizers, and more cocktails, at the dark and sultry Ships Tavern. One of the hotel's on-site restaurants. And we heard live piano music. And felt quite fancy!

And our final stop that night was at Appaloosa's to hear a Phish cover band.
What are the chances?!?

Meanwhile, back in Fort Collins......

And the next morning, we had the most delightful mimosa and steam session at the Brown Palace spa. (And it was all free!)

Luxury bathrobes, hot eucalyptus steam, bottomless mimosas, tea, trail mixes, and granola bars - all compliments of the hotel.

Now that's a send off!

The boys anxiously awaited my return.

I however, was carefully plotting my escape. A secret and clandestine return back to the Brown Palace. Because that's where I live now. At least in my dreams.

Wanna know what this is below?

Our new pediatric dentist office!
(Like Chuck E Cheese. But more expensive. And with x-ray machines.)

And then it was Thanksgiving.

For breakfast, we invited back to the menu the Paula Deen "heart attack in a casserole dish".

The most wonderful delectable french toast casserole to ever cross your lips.

Coffee and mimosas.

Homemade cheese balls. Two kinds.
One coated in nuts.
 The other with corned beef.

Dinner was hosted in Timnath, by Gma and Gpa Carter.

Sometimes we get too ambitious with the holiday menu. And we don't bake everything on schedule. So we treat ourselves to a few belated Thanksgiving treats. Like these tomato-bacon cups.

Alright folks, catch ya later! In next month's December roundup!
