The Harvest Festival

We had the BEST weekend! We departed the house early, stopped at Starbucks for some specialty autumn-flavored lattes, and headed to the Fort Collins Harvest Festival at the Gardens on Springcreek.

"Are you ready for this, kid?!?"

We spent nearly 4 hours wandering around the gardens enjoying all the family-friendly activities.

Live bluegrass music all afternoon!

We spent lots of time in the children's garden. In the picture above, Sage and Matt are hiding out in a giant watering can!

The garden was full of water features.

It also had a fully functioning model city and train set! So cool!

Sage had to be carefully monitored on this "pond" trail. If I had let go of his hand, I have no doubt that he would have dove right in! He is such a dare devil these days!

Matt got lots of landscaping inspiration from the Gardens on Springcreek. The place is gorgeous! And only $2 admission. I can't believe it took us so long to get out here.

Sage was having the time of his life. He LOVES climbing. And he had plenty of opportunities to do that.

Climbing, climbing, climbing....

In the back corner of the children's garden, volunteers were helping kids make fairy and wizard wands. Sage and I constructed one together. (Ok..I did MOST of the work).

We were really excited with our finished product!! And, I think his wand has a bit of real magic in it too. As we departed from the garden, and folded the stroller up for storage in the car, the wand was dumped onto the pavement. None of us noticed. And we arrived at home without the wand. When I realized what happened, I threw quite a fit. (I may have overreacted just a bit.) Clearly, I was emotionally attached to what I considered "Sage's first real craft." I made Matt go back to check the parking lot. Several hours had passed since we left the gardens and I knew that this was a pointless trip. But I just couldn't let it go. And you know what!?!? Someone had stuck the wand straight up in the grass. It was just waiting for us! And so Sage and his wand have been happily reunited!!

Sage had a go at building with blocks.
But this mean little girl in pink kept stealing all of them.

Sage solved that problem!
Here he is running away with two blocks of his very own.

We saw some alpacas!

And we played with rocks!
Sage is fascinated with rocks. All sizes. All kinds.
Just obsessed with them.

Some nice old ladies offered Sage some Sun Chips. He liked them!

We plan to attend the Harvest Festival every year. And in just a couple weeks, this same location will be hosting an Enchanted Halloween event.

A couple shots of our morning routine....

Sage gets up early. Matt and I are trying to get ready for work. And so out of desperation, we sit him in front of the TV and pop a pacifier in his mouth. Does that make us terrible parents?!?

We all eat breakfast in bed together. One of my favorite parts of the day.

Below is evidence of what happens when you feed your toddler blackberries.
