And now on to the fun part....pictures!
I have developed a not-so-secret obsession with Kale.
I love this little dude! He is my heartbreaker. I look into his eyes and just melt. I think both Sage and Matt are sick of hearing me coo and ooh and aah over him. He definitely gets some special treatment. He's got me under his spell. Rarely do I use his name. I prefer "gorgeous" "handsome" "angel" or "precious." Not only is he cute, but he's lightweight, he doesn't talk back, and he doesn't say no. He's a very good boy!
Selfies!
Kale is now 6 weeks old and such a chunker.
I weighed him just today - and he is 12.2 pounds!
I would argue that Sage is also quite enamored with his little brother. He has been asking to hold him more often than usual. And he sometimes refers to him as "my Kale."
Love the toes...almost as much as I love the fingers!
Matt and I have been doing a heck of a lot of research trying to pick a new dishwasher, since our last one completely pooped out on us. So why am I opening a fridge, you ask? Well...you gotta think about the whole collection. Eventually all your appliances will need an update, right?
I think we have finally decided on KitchenAid. All the other washers were European brands and require the use of rinse aids - which I am not a fan of. KitchenAid still offers the good old fashioned heating element for a heated drying cycle.
On Monday, Matt and I cooked together as a team. We never do that! We made enchiladas. One pan used real chicken. The other pan used fake chicken. They were really tasty. But next time, I'm going with black beans instead of soy chicken. The texture of the fake chicken kind of grossed me out.
On Wednesday, like usual, I had both boys at home. I'm always trying to think of creative ways to entertain Sage. Building with blocks is one of our favorite pastimes. We built a multi-level parking lot on this particular day!
And then we painted pumpkins!
I thought Sage's creation turned out awesome! He did this all on his own. No adult help.
And then I made my own pumpkin.
A witch!
Matt is still working on his creation.
On Thursday, I got together with a friend and colleague of mine. Both of us are on maternity leave together. Her little boy, Eli, was born just two days after Kale. In fact, we crossed paths at the hospital!
We took a walk up to Dazbog for lattes and mommy talk.
It's nice to talk to someone who is under the same kind of spells as me. Because our hubbys can only handle so much baby talk....
The weather was cool on Thursday, but piping hot on Friday and Saturday. So on Friday, we surprised Sage after school by doing a big family trip to the "ice cream house" as he calls it. TCBY is just across the street from daycare.
Then we did a little more block building that evening.
On Saturday, we were in the 80's.
I am LOVING this Autumn weather!
And Sage is enjoying wearing just undies for yet another weekend.
We had a lot of fun in the backyard with a big pile of leaves.
Simple, free fun.
Dad got in on the action too...
And to catch up on my CSU blog...
you are going to have to do a lot of reading!!
