A Productive Week

While reflecting back on this past week, I now realize how productive it was! Quite a lot was accomplished in a very short time frame!

On Monday, I finally got the birth announcements addressed, stamped, and dropped in the mail. It took me nearly 8 weeks to get them out. And looking back at emails from Sage's birth, looks like it took me 8 weeks then too. That's just how long I take! No judgement people! (In fact, my friend, who gave birth two days after me, her announcement arrived at my house this week. So at least I know I'm not the only one who takes forever with those things!)

While ordering the announcements, I also took the liberty of changing out almost every frame in the house. It was time to update our wall art. The photo below is one I took of Maroon Bells in Aspen last September. It's probably one of the most beautiful photos our precious little Cannon has every captured.

Also, on this first Monday of November, my husband quit his job!
We knew long ago this was going to happen. He had an offer from another insurance company, that was able to provide a slightly higher salary and more opportunities for growth. He really needed a change. So he walked in Monday morning and gave his two-week notice. They let him go that afternoon. Which meant Matt had the week off. He chatted with his new employer about the sudden termination, and they agreed to let him start a week earlier than planned. Which was great, because I didn't like the idea of so much unpaid leave. (Two kids are expensive!) But at least Matt got to enjoy one week at home!

Wednesday yoga class!

Shopping for coats at REI.

Kale is now 8 weeks old.
Which means just 4 more weeks of maternity leave for me.
That might sound like a lot to you, but it sounds like practically nothing to me. I'm getting so sad about it. I'm not ready to leave this little ding dong yet! Although he's not that little. I measured his length about a week ago. And he was 24.5 inches. Which I think puts him in the 95th percentile for height. We have a doc appointment next week. We'll see if they can confirm that for me.

Kale smiles all the time now. And I think we are on the verge of hearing giggles.

Sage was home with us on Thursday.
I took him along for a Panera bagel run.

Then Matt and I dove headfirst into a huge project.
Matt is anxious to turn the basement into a playroom. But before we can do that, we need to find storage for all the crap down there. So we decided to clean out the garage rafters. What you see below is the finished project. (I should have taken a before pic, but I completely forgot.) But I will tell you that what I found up there was disgusting. Boxes full of....more empty boxes! And also one giant box full of....plastic bags and tissue paper. Also, a lot of bubble wrap. So basically a lot of garbage and a lot of recycling. I know how it got there too. We moved into our house 4.5 years ago. We were totally exhausted after unpacking. And rather than dealing with all the leftover packing materials, tossed them up in the rafters to be dealt with later. And later finally arrived.

It was warm and Sunny that day, so Kale and I did a lap around the neighborhood, while Sage napped.

And right before dinner, we took another stroll out to the park.
Sage came along this time.

It was a bit colder this time, so we had to bundle up.

I've been having a lot of trouble getting Kale to take a bottle. He took that first one, way back, without any trouble. But every since...he has refused. Pushing it out of his mouth with his hands and just crying until I give him boob. Matt and I have tried lots of feeding variations. So on Saturday, we tried one more tactic. I left the house for over two hours. In hopes that Kale would realize I was gone and go for the bottle. Our plan did not work. But, on a happier note, Sage and I had a super awesome mommy-son date. We went to an indoor trampoline park!

On a scale of 1-10, I rate this place an 11 for awesomeness!!!
I don't know who had more fun - me or Sage!
Both of us were bouncing everywhere. The trampolines had great spring. I was getting so much air! I felt like Sage and I did some great bonding on this little adventure.

We were pooped by the time we got home.

And, quite unexpectedly Sage developed a 103 degree fever later that afternoon. Poor kid. I swear he wasn't showing any signs of sickness during our jump-fest. But he sure was sick that night. And quite ironically, I had just ordered a brand new "temporal artery" thermometer from Amazon. And it showed up just the day prior. I didn't expect to use it immediately! I have now taken Sage's temperature probably 15 times. (Thank goodness, I didn't have to do it rectally!)

We are still in the midst of potty training. And it's very very hard work. We have to constantly ask and constantly remind him to go potty. He likes to do it...but he is so SLOW! He really gets into it. Lately, he has enjoyed looking at all the Christmas toy catalogs that are continuously mailed to our house. Just like a little old man. Reading while on the pot! And, he loves dumping the contents into the big toilet, and flushing. All on his own.
If we try to help, "No I do it!" he says.

He's probably gonna hate me one day for posting these on the Internet!
