Bye Bye July

Bye Bye July.
It was filled with birthdays, hot weather, rigorous cleaning sessions, and classic summer fun in the backyard.

Hanging in the hammock chair.

Kale finds a way to return to the womb...

Meanwhile....
Sage doing his favorite thing!

On July 12th, Matt turned 35.
I surprised him with flowers, and beer, and cake.

Seems each year the kids' celebration gets bigger,
and the parents' celebration gets smaller.

We rarely leave the house anymore as whole family unit. Matt will run out. Or I will run out. But never as an entourage. Never a team of 4. It's just too much work! So we stay put.

But we NEVER fail to find ways to entertain ourselves in the backyard.

Definitely give Kale's facial expression a closer look, below.
Friggin' hilarious!

So the thing about water balloons. They rarely pop ON people. They are more prone to bouncing off and then popping on the ground below.

But Dad found a way to fix all that.
No more wasted water balloons.
People WILL get wet!

Obviously the most hilarious thing Sage has ever done...

Quite the building accomplishment for Monday night.
I put 20 minutes on the microwave timer. My goal was to give the kids a pocket of quality time following work. I would say - mission accomplished!

(Yes, it did touch the ceiling!)

Mid-Summer Gathering at the boys' school.
I love seeing Kale included like this.
The big ones lookin' out for the little ones. :)

Petting zoo on site following the pizza and popsicles.

So in the last week of July, I took a day off work.
I didn't plan on cleaning...but something came over me, and I just couldn't stop. I even rearranged the furniture!

I didn't tell Matt about it. So when he came home for lunch, he was pleasantly bamboozled.

(So this is what the house would look like if we didn't have kids!)

After my cleaning session, I took the last few precious hours of my day off, to do some more painting...

Broken sunglasses = best dress-up accessory EVER!!!

Nap time in the wagon...
