Labor Day Weekend

We had a super fun and action-packed Labor Day weekend.
Saturday marked Sage's 3rd annual Tour de Fat parade.
He's only 25 months old - and has already been to 3 of these events. Who can say that!?!? Only the coolest kid in Fort Collins! :)

As you may recall, Tour de Fat is a costumed bike parade. So we offered Sage two different costumes to choose from (which I scored on clearance after Halloween last year). He chose the dragon costume. And he was so excited about it...at first.

But his excitement quickly ended.
Within about 15 minutes he was done and demanded to be unzipped.

We saw some amazing costumes and engineering creativity at this year's parade.

Sage was quite entertained throughout the morning. He fell asleep on the car ride home and when we woke him up for lunch he said to his dad, "I had fun!"

We began Sunday with a family yoga session.
Ok... you got me... I was on the couch watching. But I was still there! Sage tried out some yoga poses. But then got bored. So I wrapped him up in his mat, like a little burrito, then would grab one end and spin him loose. He found it hysterical.

In the afternoon, Sage attended his best bud's birthday party. And boy was he in for a surprise. Sam's party was train themed. (Notice the conductor hat on Sage's head!)

And guess what....there was a real train at the park for the kids to ride. 75 cents a trip. Sage was ecstatic!

He rode the train three times total.
First with his daddy.

Before trip #2, Sage helped himself to a cupcake.

Then he rode with his mommy and friend Sam.
As the train approached the "station" said yelled out to the crowd, "The train is coming! The train is coming!"As he jumped up and down with joy. Everyone in the crowd was cracking up.

He looks like trouble in these pictures....

Then it was time for ANOTHER round of cupcakes. But not just a cupcake.... Look at that train concoction! It has marshmallows and oreos and graham crackers too. Sage had way too much sugar that afternoon.

So he got a bit silly.....

Then crashed!

We had one final train ride.
Then headed home for an early bedtime.

Monday was a holiday. Woo hoo! No work! And the weather was outstanding. We started  the day with a trip to the neighborhood park, where Sage rode the big red horse statue.

Then spun round and round on the twirly flowers. And got really dizzy! Matt captured a cute video of the whole experience.

Later in the evening we headed to Boulder's Pearl Street Mall to meet up with a long-time friend, who we hadn't seen in FOUR years! The last time we crossed paths was at our wedding in 2010. My how time flies.

Pearl Street was fun! There were tons of kid activity areas and lots of street performers. I think we need to take the grandparents there next time they mosey in to town.

We rolled back in to Fort Collins around 9pm.
Exhausted from an action-packed weekend.
And now we anxiously await Kale's arrival... each day getting one more to-do off the list. For example, last night we installed the infant car seat in my car. It's weird to look back there and see two of them! One for my big boy and one my newborn. Yikes!
