Autumn in Colorado is absolutely the BEST. 70's and 80's. All sunshine. Paradise!
We're trying to soak it up as much as possible, before Mother Nature takes a cold turn. And with the backyard in full bloom, that's THE place to go.
In the pic below, Sage is experimenting with one of Kale's birthday gifts. These Boon water pipes bring out the tiny engineer in everyone.
I was impressed with Matt's ability to give double piggy-back rides.
He certainly doesn't look graceful...but he did it....and that's what counts!
Drive-in movie time!
Even the television is having a hard time keeping the attention of the kids for any length of time. I have to be as creative as possible to buy myself some quiet minutes alone. You know, for all those personal indulgences...like chores.
Last Friday, Matt (aka: Dad of the Year) wanted to surprise Sage at school with a lunch date. Matt ordered personal pan pizzas from Pizza Hut and ate with Sage, in a tiny chair at a tiny table, and really made his day special.
Then on Saturday, I wanted to earn some points myself.
So I took the boys on a trip to Panera. Kale in wagon. Sage on bike. We had egg sandwiches together on site, and made sure to bring one home for Matt.
Saturday evening was really something special. Matt and I hired a babysitter to come over from 5-10pm, so that we could go out for an evening of drinks and appetizers with Sam and Alison. Time for some sibling bonding!
We started at the Jessup Farm Barrel House.
Then went to Tap and Handle.
Then to Lucky Joe's for the BEST Irish coffee EVER....
And we rounded out the night at Tony's for more beer and pizza.
At 10pm, no one was ready to say goodnight. So we we all ubered back to my house for a late night of dancing...and more beer.
Our lucky kids stayed up till 11pm. And the rest of us turned in about 1am. When morning came, I was reminded why I don't do this every weekend.
I wanted to sleep all day... but kids don't allow such silly things. So instead we had a picnic with Chipotle in the backyard. (Free kids meals every Sunday in September!!)
Then Sage and I built a record-breaking Hot Wheels track down the driveway.
And what sort of Sunday would it be without some abstract painting?!?
Also...
Proud to announce...
THEY'RE HERE!
The tomatoes are here!!!
As I mentioned before, everything is still in full bloom around here.
Including our front planter.
Hats off to Matt for doing such a great job with it this year.
And now, I bid you adieu and leave you with this:
