Tuesday morning I lay in my bed. The alarm had already gone off at 5:30am. I was still under the covers not wanting to get out... when I heard a text message come through.
Who would text me at this hour?!?
It was CSU. The foot of snow that had fallen overnight resulted in a full-fledged SNOW DAY.
Classes cancelled. Offices closed.
It was Christmas morning all over again!!!!!!!
I stuck a ruler in the snow on our back porch.
Down, down it went, until there was no ruler left.
See that tiny hole in the pic below? There's a ruler in there!
Sage had the time of his life out there.
Kale and I watched from inside.
Matt stayed home too. And we used the unplanned day at home to get a head start on Spring Cleaning. We hit the basement hard. Organizing all the leftover holiday boxes, and gathering up donation items.
Bye, bye papasan. You are no longer a coveted furniture item.
It is not the 60's. And college is over!
But of course...
as soon as we inched this thing towards the garage for disposal, the little boys demanded to play with it. They never let us throw anything away!
We all resumed our normal schedule Wednesday morning.
And soon enough, it was the weekend. Super Bowl weekend.
On Saturday, Sage and I built a luxury mega-garage for his cars.
Then he and I had a little date night. I took him out to the Melting Pot, for some Sage-and-Mommy alone time. It really was perfect timing too. As Sage had just won the kindness award at school. What a great way to celebrate.
He did very well at the restaurant. He followed rules. He was careful to not burn himself. And he tried most of the food offered to him. I was very proud. We did cheese and chocolate. My favorite combination at the Melting Pot.
Eventually, all that molten chocolate kicked into gear. Sugar rush! I was just signing the check as Sage began to spin around in a circles holding a fondue skewer in his hand. Yep - time to go!
Kale and Daddy enjoyed their alone time too.
On Sunday, in preparation for watching the Broncos (remember - it was the Super Bowl), Sage decided to ride a bronco!
Whenever Sage is getting a good amount of attention, Kale finds a way to pull it right back to him. Sometimes I swear my eyes are looking in two different directions!
We had the Super Bowl on the TV upstairs. We had a movie on for the kiddos downstairs. Eventually we all ended up in one room together.
Kale is just one day away from being 17 months old. He is funny, friendly, and very opinionated. He has great physical skills. He can handle himself on the stairs, wrestle with his brother, and dance like a pro. Galloping and skipping are his preferred modes of travel. He always wakes up in the best mood. Grinning and babbling. While sleeping is a constant battle. (He wakes up about every 45 minutes. And he can't go back to sleep without me.) He is a mega flirt. With men, women, strangers, anyone! He waves and loves saying "hi" and "bye". He avidly talks in paragraphs, although his vocabulary is slightly limited. He babbles away in Kale-talk, with all the right intonations and fluctuations of language, just no real distinct words. His strongest words right now are mine and more - ya know, the important ones! I swear, he has more teeth than he does words. He's got 6 gorgeous teeth. #3 and #4 on the top are coming in just slightly behind #1 and #2. But it all makes for the cutest smile!
