I'm just tickled right now.... with my newly acquired blogging skills. I finally decided the blog needed a little freshening. Nothing crazy, but some cleaner colors, larger pictures, and a more dynamic layout. Some of the changes were super easy to make in Blogger. But other changes involved very scary HTML coding. What?!? That's sounds like crazy computer encryption! I can't do that!
But you know what? It's soooo easy! And quite addicting. It can get your pictures to do a lot of cool things that the regular design features won't allow. (I wonder if it's too late to get my degree in CIS?) I doubt anyone will really notice the difference, besides me. But I'm still thrilled with the outcome! For example, check out all the neat side-by-side photos below. Snazzy!
We've had a beautiful Autumn this year. It's been a slow one, and the brilliant Fall colors have appeared gradually, and have been hanging around for an extended time. The scenery on my drive to work every morning is breathtaking. The leaves are just now beginning to descend to the ground. And I think we might hit our first real freeze this weekend. That means it's time to pick all the green tomatoes and hope I can get them to ripen over the next weeks.
Matt is the official groundskeeper in the family. He is such a master gardener. And he has recently taken a liking to dahlias. I never gave his yard work the credit it fully deserved...until I saw the late summer blooms the dahlias produced. Wowee! We've had gorgeous cut flowers in our house for the past couple of weeks. What a treat for us.
There's room for everyone on Big Bear.... He makes the best couch!
On Wednesday, Sage's daycare hosted a Harvest Festival. And we got to take a horse-drawn wagon ride around the neighborhood.
And now for the weekly tomato update...
This week, I tried my hand at homemade pasta sauce. Like most of my dishes, it had loads of basil, onion, and garlic in it. And much to my surprise - carrots. I learned that carrots in tomato dishes help to reduce the overall acidity. (Which explains why my tomato soup recipe called for carrot too.) What a smart cooking tip!
