Tuesday was doomsday for our neighborhood. Well actually, for half of Fort Collins. Late on Tuesday evening, it began to rain. Then we started to hear the pitter-patter of small ice chunks. And soon...before our very eyes....we started to watch pingpong-ball sized hail fall from the sky. It shredded Matt's beloved garden to pieces. We feared it would break our windows. But somehow the glass survived. The screens got the worst of it. And after chatting with our neighbors, it looks like we might need a new roof.
But after having a couple days to process, we were able to move on and have a beautiful hot summer weekend. Pool time!
Snack time!
Sage set up shop in the corner of the porch. He brought outside as many toys as I would allow. This is why I love summer!
Bubble time!
Here's a shot of Sage in the middle of his infamous "Fly in the sky!" catchphrase. He's very animated and very loud when he does it. He pretty much sings it. And it includes gestures...obviously. Surprisingly, he finds lots of opportunities to use it. When talking about planes, and bugs, and birds, and bubbles too!
We grilled out Saturday evening.
Sage loves buttery salty corn on the cob.
On Sunday, Sage requested painting as an activity. How could I deny him? He's very patient and focused on his art these days. He's growing up! He painted this entire picture himself - with no help from his parents - except that we continued to turn the paper for him.
Hanging out in the garage. So much to explore in there!
Time to help daddy clean up.
And now a spin on the bumble bee.
I love Sage's outfit by the way...
Tie-dyed tank top, diaper, and tennis shoes. That's my boy!
Our very conservative ex-mayor neighbor came out during this rendezvous in the driveway. Matt was on the roof painting a window. Sage was riding around. And I was just watching the boys do their thing.... Then I noticed that all 3 of us had tie dyes on. Very bright colorful semi-insane tie dyes. The whole family! I can only imagine what our neighbor thinks of the "crazy hippies" next door - who just happen to take superb care of their yard and home. It's fun to break stereotypes!
Off to Illinois tomorrow for a wedding!
