For the past two weeks, all of us have been fighting our way through a continuous series of illnesses. Our poor household got hit hard! I got it first, about 2 weeks ago. I missed 2 days of work recuperating myself. I feel like I had the mini-flu. Aches, chills, cough, and congestion. Then exactly one week later, I got the call from daycare that Sage had a 103 temperature. And he missed 3 days of daycare! A Thursday, Friday, and Monday. For 5 days this poor kid fought his way through all the same symptoms. He was in really bad shape. Moaning. Eyes half opened. A bit delusional. We went through an entire bottle of acetaminophen that week. And Matt caught the same cold somewhere near the end of Sage's fight. So no one was able to avoid it. One by one we fell.
We had a playdate scheduled for Saturday, but had to cancel it due to all the sickness. And so we looked for other ways to entertain ourselves. We opted for some painting.
In addition to Sage's interpretive brush strokes, I wanted to see little hand and foot prints all over the paper.
So I painted his feet....
And stamped them down on the paper.....
And he hated it....
He burst into tears. He was very upset to be so sticky and messy.
The painting came to an immediate end after that.
I learned my lesson.
On Sunday, to all of our surprise, it hit a high of 74 degrees! It was hot and sunny and just wonderful. I felt better on this day than I had in ages! I was basking in pure joy!
We all went to play outside - even those with fevers.
Not looking so cool here....
Much better! Now he's got style!
"I'm so hot, Mom!"
I was fully enjoying the warm "summer" day, and I pushed the family to take a walk to the park. Probably not the smartest idea. We didn't stay long. Neither of the boys had the stamina for it.
Monday was Sage's last day of recuperation. I stayed home with him. He still had minimal appetite, refused liquid, and was so so grumpy. There was no way I was dumping him off on daycare.
But by late afternoon he perked right up!
I think the proof is in these photos.
Sage has taken quite the liking to his hat and sunglasses.
